Role Overview
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the management reporting function of one or more business units. As Finance Business Partner, you will act as a trusted adviser to, and work closely with, the Business Unit Head, providing accurate, relevant, reliable, timely, and consistent financial and non-financial information to support decision making. You will also be responsible for driving periodic forecasts and annual budgets to support long-term strategic planning. The role involves leading improvements in financial management and decision making, and influencing the development of strong, effective controls and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Business Unit Head(s) and other key stakeholders to improve their financial understanding.
- Serve as a trusted adviser on financial matters, driving stakeholder engagement to ensure successful financial strategy and operational efficiency.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and deliver insightful analysis.
- Review monthly management accounts for all companies within the assigned business unit.
- Prepare monthly business unit reports and analysis for the Business Unit Head and senior management.
- Prepare periodic cashflow projections.
- Work with the Business Unit Head to produce annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Continuously improve finance processes and develop and implement new processes where appropriate.
- Review quarterly submission of accounts to the parent company (if applicable).
- Manage and support finance staff, including annual appraisals.
- Assist with the external audit process.
- Ensure compliance within the team for company working instructions and agreed policies and procedures.
- Identify process improvements and efficiencies.
- Assist senior management with ad hoc requests, projects, reports, and research.
Candidate Requirements
- Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA, ACA).
- Previous experience in a demanding corporate role, with oversight of multiple companies and proven experience in team leadership.
- Proven experience in a business partnering role with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Experience running and performing budgeting or forecasting processes.
- Excellent analytical ability with strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of financial regulation and legislation.
- Management and leadership experience.
- Good time management skills, ability to prioritise workload, and ability to work to strict reporting deadlines.
- Commercial and business awareness.
- High numeracy and technical skills.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
