Group Financial Controller

Woodland group story

Woodland group story

Woodland Furniture Group is an investor-backed kitchen and bathroom furniture manufacturer with turnover in excess of £50M and more than 400 employees across two sites, in Rasharkin, Northern Ireland and Dundee, Scotland. The Group has been delivering fitted furniture solutions with expertise and care for over 40 years.

The Group trades through two brands. Woodland, based in Rasharkin, creates precision-engineered, scalable and bespoke furniture solutions for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, serving both contract and retail markets. JTC, based in Dundee, specialises in designing and creating bespoke modular fitted furniture, kitchens and bathroom panels for contract clients, and joined the Group in 2024.

With investment from BGF behind it, the Group is now bringing its two businesses closer together. A single Group finance function is the next step, and this newly created role is central to it.

THEIR CULTURE

THEIR CULTURE

Woodland is an ambitious, investor-backed Group with partnership, quality and creativity at its core. After more than 40 years of fitted furniture manufacturing, it is investing in its facilities, technology and people, and has recently relocated into newly refurbished office and operational premises.

The finance team is established and includes long-serving colleagues, and the new Group Financial Controller will be expected to respect that experience and history while raising standards.

The Group values accountability, continuous improvement and sensitivity in managing change, and cultural fit will matter as much as technical capability.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in systems, automation and AI-enabled finance

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a qualified accountant with strong manufacturing finance experience and the people skills to lead an established team through growth and change. They earn trust through delivery, bring sound commercial judgement and a continuous improvement mindset, and are comfortable being hands-on while keeping sight of the bigger picture. • Proven people management experience, with the ability to lead and develop a team
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with working knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and experience presenting financial information to boards, lenders or investors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the presence and credibility to operate at Group level and work closely with the Group Finance Director

  • Experience of Epicor, which would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of improving processes and optimising systems and reporting tools
  • An interest in automation and AI-enabled approaches within finance
  • Experience of leading an established team, including long-serving colleagues, through change
