Background to the role

Recent changes in the leadership team have further strengthened the company’s strategic direction. Ian Stevens has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer, bringing a wealth of experience to guide Emblation through its next phase of growth. Additionally, Alan McKenna has been promoted from Group Financial Controller to Chief Financial Officer, marking a significant step in the company’s financial leadership.

 

With a new Head of Finance set to join in the coming months, Emblation has also created a new role of Group Accountant to be based alongside their Finance team in Stirling. This position will support a wide array of group reporting tasks, manage transactional processes across multiple jurisdictions – including complex multi-state US tax compliance – and assist the newly appointed Head of Finance in various aspects of their role.

 

Importantly, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to play a key role in Emblation’s upcoming ERP implementation project, with Sage Intacct and NetSuite currently under consideration. This presents a unique chance to contribute to a transformative phase in the company’s operational infrastructure.

This position will support a wide array of group reporting tasks, manage transactional processes across multiple jurisdictions – including complex multi-state US tax compliance and assist the newly appointed Head of Finance in various aspects of their role. The role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency across the group.


Key Responsibilities:


Group Reporting & Consolidation

  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual group consolidations in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of financial data across all entities and jurisdictions.
  • Support the preparation of board and investor reporting packs.

Management Reporting & Business Partnering

  • Produce high-quality, insightful management reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with commercial and operational teams to provide financial insights and drive performance improvements.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and KPIs to support business planning and forecasting.

Compliance & Statutory Reporting

  • Support the preparation and submission of all statutory accounts across the group.
  • Support all tax compliance matters, including:
  • UK corporate tax returns
  • US federal and multi-state tax filings
  • Coordination with external advisors and auditors as requir

ERP System Implementation

  • Play a key role in the successful implementation and rollout of the new ERP system.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system design meets business requirements.
  • Support data migration, testing, training, and post-implementation optimisation.

Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline finance processes and improve internal controls.
  • Drive automation and standardization across reporting and transactional activities.
  • Support the development of scalable processes to accommodate future growth.

Working Capital Management

  • Monitor and manage working capital metrics, with a focus on receivables and payables.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to optimize cash flow and credit control processes.
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis on working capital performance.

  • Qualified accountant 1-3 years PQE (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong finance systems experience
  • Ethos of continuous improvements to both systems and financial processes
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in standard office packages
  • Proven ability to build effective cross-functional relationships
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to present financial reports clearly and concisely
  • Previous experience in working within group reporting functions or PE backed environments

  • The successful candidate must enjoy working in a hands-on environment with a small but tight-knit finance team
  • Experience working within group finance functions within a fast paced SME or PE backed environment would be beneficial.
  • Assistant Manager or Manager level candidates coming from Big 4 or mid-tier firms bringing strong technical expertise in financial reporting and controls  would be well-positioned for this role.
  • Candidates with previous ERP implementation experience, or those who show a desire to gain experience in this would
  • Be a strong match
  • A desire to be involved in a PE backed business that will allow them to develop and progress their careers within a short period of time given the key projects and involvement with experienced finance leaders in the business.
